FourBoys Adopts a Fifth

Variety, June 10, 2010

FourBoys Entertainment, the production shingle headed by Patricia Heaton and David Hunt, is looking to step up its game in TV. FourBoys has tapped A.J. Morewitz, formerly a development exec at Conan O'Brien's Conaco banner and Krasnoff-Foster Productions, to serve as President of Television Production.

Heaton and Hunt, who are married, have self-financed their development projects for years. The company recently completed a comedy pilot on spec, directed by and starring Hunt, that will soon be shopped to network buyers.

Working on their own, Heaton and Hunt were able to set up a few TV pitches during pilot season, but they realized that to make a serious run at launching shows they needed a dedicated exec, especially with the couple's work skeds and the demands of raising four sons (hence the shingle's moniker).

"We've been operating on a really skeletal basis, and we just felt like it was time to really put our effort behind it," Heaton told Daily Variety.

Morewitz was recommended to the couple independently by several friends and industry associates. The trio hit it off immediately.

"Our sensibilities about the types of show we'd like to do are the same, and we all believe in the importance of having a real sense of humanity in the stories we tell," Heaton said. "We're a big believer in stuff that has heart."

Morewitz spent the past two years as exec veep of Krasnoff-Foster Prods., where he served as a co-exec producer on the NBC laugher "Community." Before that, he spent six years at Conaco, overseeing development as Senior Vice-President, and he also worked as a programming exec at USA Network."Patty and David are putting their money where their mouth is. We have a discretionary fund to buy projects and develop things ourselves in a way that protects the integrity of a project," Morewitz said.
